Okay, so, something I've been seeing more and more of is just people going "UGH! NOW A BUNCH OF BRATS ARE GONNA CALL ME DELUSIONAL AND MELODRAMATIC FOR CALLING OUT OPEN SOURCE CULTURE!!!"

I don't mean to dunk on anybody in particular, so I do apologize to a certain extent, but I guess I'm drawing attention to this because it can get exhausting having to see trash like this nearly every goddamn day on social media.

I am reminded of back when I was learning Final Cut Pro and Adobe Premiere at the same time, and how their timelines worked was vastly different between the two programs. This doesn't mean one was worse than the other, the way it approached things was just very different.

Nothing about this is unusual. It's just a mundane fact of life.

Part 1: Weaponization

Now, let's just say this up front, but I probably won't have respect for what you're trying to say if you attempt to weaponize "accessibility", especially if something is simply just new to you and you don't immediately understand it.

It can be a sore spot for me because I'm mentally disabled in real life and just because I need some extra help sometimes, that doesn't mean I want to be treated like a baby.

If someone is making all these overblown accusations and refuses to show you evidence, they are clearly lying, but people will believe whatever it is they want.

Yes, maybe words like "fascist" are a bit too strong, but it hasn't gone unnoticed that there are a lot of phony, overly dramatic pissants who seem to have lost much of their cognitive ability by doing nothing but doom-scroll on Twitter for the past two decades.

Now in the current day, they're left feeling deeply insecure, they're not getting any younger, and they're not doing anything with their sad, pathetic lives, so they need to find someone else that they can paint as worse than them, real or not, exaggerated or not, so they can feel better about themselves.

Welcome to the N.H.K.

Think about it. YOU try dealing with a bunch of emotionally stunted bitch-weasels all the goddamn time. Let's see how you take it. It's really easy to say until it's you. It's very hard.

It's not because open source developers are assholes. It's because they're exhausted. This is essentially just "reactive abuse", where the bully is accusing their target of being abusive... for reacting to their abuse.

Part 2: Entitlement

Another reason why I don't take shit like this seriously is because this is how the internet will always behave whenever it doesn't get their fucking way. It will be inevitable. If you tell them "no", or if you contradict them in any way, they will get real fucking upset.

You tend to see this deeply entitled aspect in fandom, where people will often act like they're being censored or they're being bullied whenever they're being disagreed with in public.

And this isn't something fandom only does with critics or random YouTubers who don't like the things they like, they pull this crap with everybody, and they pull this crap with the creators themselves all the goddamn time.

Dana Terrace. Frankie is cis, she just has a lot of nicknames. I have friends who call me Dan, DBO, Danny. Just happens sometimes.

A lot of people who are like this, they are very angry and they are vindictive, so the MOMENT you say something that rubs them the wrong way, they'll immediately get pissed off and will refuse to let it go.

And you know what? If it's any consolation, something that helps dealing with this sort of thing, is the obvious reminder that a lot of these people are just blitheringly fucking stupid and one of the main reasons they get so ANGRY about this sort of stuff - you say something they disagree with, and they're confronted with the reality that they don't know how to respond to it.

They can recognize the McDonalds logo. They can read the subtitles on a TikTok. But if they had to try and explain why they think you're wrong, maybe there was a time where they could do it, but they can't fucking do it anymore.

It's why internet dwellers tend to just repeat easy buzzwords now like HOA tyrant, HOA tyrant, HOA tyrant. Media illiteracy, Media illiteracy, Media illiteracy. And now it's Accessibility, Accessibility, Accessibility.

Because their brains have fucking melted.

My advice is if someone gets real fucking upset over some milquetoast shit you've said... keep fucking saying it. They can keep this train going forever if that's what they want, I don't fucking care. I'll see you in 2030.
