People have been admonishing the wizard books lately and rightfully so, however, I don't have much to say about the wizard books myself because everything after the 3rd or 4th books especially, was dull. It was really boring.

Now, a part of the problem with trying to talk about this sort of thing is because Eragon, Earthsea, Percy Jackson, etc., none of this was very good as well.

I question why sometimes I even had my head stuck in the fantasy genre in the first place because - dear fucking god. Seriously, what the fuck?

I think my issue is that a lot what I actually liked about fantasy is widely considered infantile, cringe, and/or sissy gay. You have to be the type of person who actually enjoys how melancholy and saccharine the Lord of the Rings could get, I think.

You know what? You know how some people say that horror movies are supposed to scare you? Well, then fantasy is supposed to make you cry, how about that?

That's what I get when trying to think back on all of the best moments in fantasy, be that how precious and wonderful Death was in Discworld, Bellara looking forward to a better future in Veilguard, Imoen in Baldur's Gate 2, or even just Samwise's mere existence in the Lord of the Rings.
