Samuro the Orc from Heroes of the Storm.

I’ve been getting back into World of Warcraft recently and I’ve been enjoying some of the class changes since the last time I’ve played. Particularly with some of what used to be my least favourite specializations.

Unholy Death Knight, for example, has actually become a pretty strong consideration for me. Midnight came in with a full-on rework! This piffy Festering Wounds mechanic has been replaced with summoning lesser ghouls, and the cooldowns have basically been whittled down to Army of the Dead and Dark Transformation.

After two long decades, finally, the class fantasy of like this resurrected zombie followed by an army of shambling corpses has finally been achieved, dare-I-say, even going as far to unseat Frost as the quintessential Death Knight specialization.

Enhancement Shaman was a complete mess, as they were pretty much THE example of button bloat, managing far too many spells. But Midnight brings it down a peg, to essentially a core six. The new Enhancement Shaman feels "meaty" and you feel like you’re crushing the elements into your enemy with the force of a hurricane. I like it!

That brings me to my favourite class, which is the Warrior. And... it’s pretty much the same! Fury and Protection are unchanged for the most part, just with rotations that rely less on keeping track of like 20 buffs.

However, that just leaves Arms Warrior, which in my opinion, was and has always been the absolute worst specialization in the entire game. The Arms Warrior is the HULK SMASH specialization.

The entire Arms class identity is about swinging this mighty 2-Handed weapon around, however, the problem is you’ve got Fury right next to it, which can do the exact same but duel-wield them. The way I see things, this means there is literally no other specialization that is cooler than the Fury Warrior.

Here is my solution:

The Blademaster. I believe that Arms has always been perfectly positioned to realize the class fantasy of a Blademaster, but they just won’t fucking do it, likely because they really hate leaning into any other idea for the Warrior outside of simply just “Orc” and “Viking” and “Angry”.

The thing is, World of Warcraft in the past has completely destroyed a specialization and rebuilt it. A decade ago, they redesigned the Combat Rogue into the Outlaw and then just went full Pirate with it. This is most likely because each specialization is basically it’s own class now, rather than a fragment of the whole thing.

I'm sorry guys, but it’s time to turn Arms into a fucking Samurai.
