FUCKING PRONOUNS!!!

"FUCKING PRONOUNS!!!"

What’s become apparent to me in the past... 7 years now, is that a lot of people find the idea that they should have an obligation and responsibility to the other people around them, highly oppressive. There are just a lot of people who... don’t really care about other people... at all. They are only concerned with themselves.

It seems that every single time any endurance of friction or adjustment in behaviour was required for the greater benefit of everyone, people have reacted to it as if that sort of consideration was the equivalent of stripping them of their rights. It’s incredible to see.

You can pick any big event of the past few years where the tiniest ask was made to think of others, and it’s almost guaranteed that there was a violent reaction to it. Which of course was then presented as reasonable, rather than as petulant and anti-social.

A world where you never have to think beyond yourself, where you can take what you want without ever having to give, without experiencing the friction of being around others, and considering anybody else who don't immediately benefit you – it’s easy and comfortable. But it’s childish and embarrassing.

And it’s the core of a lot of the general shittiness you see in people. It’s a lot more than you realize.
