What the fuck is going on?

One of the things about being online is having to hear about how every single video game in the history of the universe is the worst thing ever, the next in a long line of monumental disappointments, and I'm about to blow your fucking mind here, but worse is better.

An easy example is Minecraft, seeing as it's the best selling video game of all time. But objectively speaking, you could make the argument that every individual aspect of it is horribly designed, from the combat, to enchanting and brewing.

The game is addicted to giving you items way after the point when they’re actually needed. Why do you need to grab breath from the final boss to make an entire branch of potions? Who are you gonna use them against? Is this a survival RPG with building elements, or a building game with RPG elements?

But have you ever noticed there is no "Minecraft Killer"? What if we took Minecraft and completely polished it? Look, Minecraft is fixed now! All of those problems are gone now! Wait... how come I'm not making all of the money right now?

But fact of the matter is, it's in large part because of those eccentricities that Minecraft has had such staying power for such a long period of time. You're not making it better by making it better, you're making it worse.

Let's end on a simple question, which is better, Mario Kart World or Sonic Crossworlds? The answer is Sonic. But that can't be! You bump into walls! Yeah, but that's the point, it's better because it's worse.
